Columbia City House Burns in Thunderstorm

A house on East Market Street in Columbia City caught fire during this morning’s thunderstorms. Hear Columbia City Fire Chief Tom LaRue tell Q101 how the fire looked when his firefighters arrived. It took firefighters from the Columbia City and Columbia Township departments 25 minutes to control the fire. LaRue says investigators are still looking for the cause, but there’s a good chance that lightning is to blame. LaRue says the occupants of the house got out safely and no one was injured.
