Fire Kills Ligonier Child
A three-year-old Ligonier boy died last night when he was caught in a house fire. The Ligonier Fire Department got the call just after 10 o’clock. As the first trucks drove up, firefighters found a house with flames shooting 20 to 30 feet into the air. The parents of the child were outside, telling firefighters their son was still inside and where to look for him. By the time firefighters found the boy, he was in a different part of the house… and he had already suffered fatal injuries. No one else was hurt. It took about half an hour to control the fire. A fire department spokesman says the way the house was built made it hard for firefighters to get to some of the fire. The Ligonier Fire Department got help from two other departments. The State Fire Marshal’s office is assisting with the investigation into the cause of the fire.
