Meteorologist Gregory Lamberty of the national weather service says the high humidity will make it more difficult for your body to cool itself. He says the humidity inhibits the evaporation of sweat, and it's that evaporation that cools your body. Lamberty says the heat and humidity combined will result in a heat index of up to 106 degrees today. He suggests staying indoors as much as possible, drinking plenty of water and checking on elderly neighbors and family members, who are even more susceptible to these conditions.
