Possible Tornado Strikes Near Grissom

A possible tornado reportedly did heavy damage to a house and blew down a barn and several large trees near Grissom Air Reserve Base last night. State police say a caller on 9-1-1 reported seeing a tornado at about 8:15 last night, but the call was cut off before they got complete information. This morning, a survey team from the National Weather Service will look over the damage to determine whether it was caused by a tornado or by straight-line winds. Earlier yesterday afternoon, lightning struck a firefighter in Decatur while he was watching for severe weather. He did not require hospitalization and doctors expect him to recover fully.
