The National Weather Service confirms that a small tornado touched down in Kosciusko County yesterday evening. But Meteorologist Patrick Murphy says the phenomenon barely met the definition of "tornado."
Hear Murphy describe the "land spout."
The land spout is barely visible in the center of the photo, which was sent to the National Weather Service by a member of the public. Murphy says the land spout was on the ground for a very short time and did not do any damage. But he says straight-line winds from an isolated thunderstorm did bring down some trees and power lines in the Hoffman Lake area west of Warsaw.
