AG: Suspending Gasoline Tax Illegal
The Indiana Attorney General’s office says the governor does not have the legal authority to suspend the sales tax on gasoline… despite the fact that Governor Frank O’Bannon did it back in 2000. Unlike a court ruling, the Attorney General’s opinion is not binding. Democratic House Speaker Patrick Bauer of South Bend says Daniels should therefore go ahead and suspend the tax.
