See an update to this story...
Wabash County Sheriff Leroy Striker has announced that his department’s fleet will soon have a motorcycle for the first time in its history. Striker says a deputy will use the motorcycle primarily to serve civil papers. He says the biggest reason the department bought the motorcycle is to save money on gasoline. The motorcycle’s gas mileage is 37 miles per gallon higher than the mileage of a Crown Victoria police car. Striker says that between serving papers, the motorcycle officer will respond to calls for service and might work limited traffic enforcement details.
