Chili Sauce Warning

Federal health officials say an Indiana couple is among at least four people who have become seriously ill after eating canned hot dog chili sauce. Officials say certain cans of the product are contaminated with botulism toxin. It’s the first such contamination of canned food in decades. The Food and Drug Administration says people should throw away certain 10-ounce cans of Castleberry's, Austex and Kroger brands of hot dog chili sauce. The recall covers cans with "best by" dates from April 30, 2009, through May 22, 2009. It includes cans carrying the following universal product codes:
  • Castleberry's Hot Dog Chili Sauce (UPC 3030000101)
  • Austex Hot Dog Chili Sauce (UPC 3030099533)
  • Kroger Hot Dog Chili Sauce (UPC 1111083942)
