Fire Destroys Elkhart County Duck Hatchery

A big fire destroyed a 20-thousand-square-foot building at a duck hatchery in Middlebury yesterday. It took nine fire departments several hours to put out the fire at Culver Duck Farms in the Elkhart County town. Owner Burk Culver says it looks like the fire started in a malfunctioning generator. No one was hurt but the fire destroyed more than 500-thousand eggs.
