Governor Orders More Reassessments

Governor Mitch Daniels has ordered property reassessments in Gibson, Posey and Delaware counties. Daniels says evidence indicates that previous assessments in those counties undervalued commercial and industrial properties – thus shifting more of the local tax burden onto homeowners. The state is still reviewing assessments in dozens of other counties. Meanwhile, three state lawmakers have asked Daniels to order a similar reassessment of properties in Aboite Township of southwestern Allen County.
