U.S. House Opposes Whiting Refinery Expansion

The U-S House of Representatives has passed a resolution that expresses disapproval of an Indiana refinery’s plan to expand and increase discharges of ammonia and sludge into Lake Michigan. The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has issued a permit that allows the increase in discharges from the BP refinery in Whiting. Governor Daniels says the refinery’s expansion will provide jobs and help decrease gasoline prices.
