Governor Signs Bill Limited Sheriff Pay
Sheriffs throughout Indiana will soon have new limits on how much money they can earn. Current policy allows sheriffs to increase their incomes with fees from collecting overdue taxes. But a bill Governor Mitch Daniels has signed sends those fees to the county's main account instead. It also limits a sheriff's pay to no more than what a full-time county prosecutor earns.
