Wabash Derailment Update

Wabash County Sheriff Leroy Striker has released additional information about Wednesday’s train derailment southwest of Wabash. Striker tells Q101 News that although initial reports indicated that twenty-five cars derailed with eighteen rolling onto their sides, further investigation revealed that one engine and seven articulated well cars derailed. Each of the articulated well cars carried two box units. All of the box units contained consumer products that posed no environmental hazard. Striker says Norfolk and Southern officials continue to investigate the cause of the derailment and hope to determine a cause within two weeks.
