Voter ID Law Upheld
The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that Indiana and other states can require voters to produce photo identification without violating their constitutional rights. "They upheld the right of the Republican Party to restrict the rights of people to vote," says Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean. "I think that was a terrible mistake and frankly it was an affront to American democracy." Republican State Representative Brian Bosma says the ruling is fair. "It's not unreasonable to ask for people to show a photo identification when they show up to exercise our most fundamental right," Bosma says. "We're asked at blockbuster, we're asked at the airport, we're asked to enter some buildings."
