State Adult Bookstore Law Ruled Unconstitutional
A state law regarding the sale of sexually explicit material took effect yesterday, but before the day was over, a federal judge ruled that the law is unconstitutionally vague and overly broad. The law would have required bookstores and other retailers to pay a registration fee if they want to sell adult materials. The judge ruled that the way the legislature wrote the law, it could apply not just to pornography, but also to classic literature and great works of art.
