Man Robs Bank in Warren

A man robbed the Markle Bank in the Huntington County town of Warren just before two o’clock this afternoon. Witnesses describe the suspect as a white man between 20 and 30 years old. The suspect is between five-foot-nine and six feet tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark fleece coat with 3 inch letters on the left chest area and a toboggan style hat with the letter “C” on the hat. The suspect left the area in a silver Saturn hatchback. Warren police are asking anyone who has any information that might help them find the robber to call them at (260) 356-8316.

State Schools Chief Suggests Book Gifts

State Schools Superintendent Suellen Reed has a suggestion for anyone who is still looking for a gift for a school-age child. Reed has released a list of more than 100 books she says would make good gifts for students of all ages. You can see the list on the state Department of Education web site.

State Creates New Heating Charity

Governor Daniels says the state has set up a new charity to help needy people pay their heating bills this winter. The governor is encouraging Hoosiers to donate to the new Help Thy Neighbor Heating Fund, which will provide one-time, 200-dollar credit for certain households whose natural gas service has been disconnected. Kosciusko Police Announce Cocaine Arrests

The Kosciusko County Drug Task Force announced today that they arrested two people in Claypool Saturday as a result of an investigation into the dealing of crack cocaine. Police say investigators purchased crack at a residence in Claypool. They arrested the resident on a charge of maintaining a common nuisance and a Chicago man on a charge of dealing in cocaine. Police say the investigation lasted a year and they expect to make additional arrests.
